Eastern Hills Community Church began in the early 1980's with a group of people who had vision to create a ministry in the Aurora area. After worshiping in a variety of temporary settings, the church moved into the first phase of it's current building in October of 1989. In May of 1999 we opened the remainder of our current facility. In July of this year we began construction of a new 70,000 square foot facility approximately 4 miles East of our current location. We are planning to move into that new campus during the summer of 2008. You can see the progress of the new building here.
Our Senior Pastor, Shawn Sikkema arrived in the summer of 1989. Over these past 18 years, we have grown from about 100 people in worship on a weekend to our current size of 1,700 people on a weekend. We estimate that nearly 2,500 people consider us to be their church home.
We have purchased approximately 20 acres of property near Smoky Hill Road and Arapahoe Road and are looking to relocate our ministry to that location. We are currently in the midst of a stewardship campaign. If you are interested in finding out more about that, please visit, New Building Information.
We are aligned with the Christian Reformed Church of North America. You can learn more about the CRCNA here.
Our Vision
We believe that God has called us to do two primary things:
- We are called to help those who have a saving relationship with Jesus and are a part of EHCC to grow and become all that God wants them to be.
- We are called to tell those around us about Jesus and the salvation and new life we can have in Him, inviting them to join us in walking with Jesus
Our Six Priorities
To accomplish our vision, we have established these six priorities:
- That we would be a place of grace.
- That we would do all in our power to reach lost people for Jesus.
- That we would help people become like Jesus.
- That we would provided vibrant, relevant worship.
- That we would minister to people at the point of their need.
- That we would be a church of "little churches" within the larger church.
