Common Ground Mentoring Ministry

Common Ground Mentoring Ministry intentionally seeks to give women of all ages the opportunity to experience joy and growth in their Christian walk by participating in one-on-one supportive mentoring friendships. This ministry attracts women who desire to invest in the lives of each other through spiritual teaching, growth, encouragement, guidance, sharing, listening, and laughing together. Based on Titus 2:3-5, this ministry’s purpose is to encourage women to take their next step toward Jesus.
“Teach the older women to live in a way that is appropriate for someone serving the Lord. They must not go around speaking evil of others and must not be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good. These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to take care of their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.” Titus 2:3-5
What is a Mentor and what does she do?
- As a wise and trusted Christian confidant, a mentor walks beside another woman for a period of time.
- She serves as a role model and a prayer partner while demonstrating her maturity in faith and her consistent Godly conduct.
- She listens, shares her experiences, advises and provides a positive perspective.
- She provides wisdom and offers a spiritually sound, safe and fun friendship to a younger woman.
- She is, “One who leads simply because she knows the path a little better.”
What is a Mentee and what does she do?
- A mentee welcomes the insight and knowledge of a mature woman.
- She desires the opportunity to develop certain skills and strengths in her spiritual journey.
- A mentee commits to scheduled meetings and is open to sharing her joys and challenges.
- She appreciates the input from a woman who has experienced some of the struggles she now faces.
Why a Mentoring Ministry?
- The Lord commands us to share the Word and tell our story to the next generation.
We shall not hide these truths but will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord. We will tell of His power and the mighty miracles He did. Psalm 78:4.
- God calls women to teach what we have learned as part of His plan for growth and maturity in Titus 2:3-5
